We started our Romanian food tour with a local breakfast right in the heart of Brasov, Romania. We tried strudels from one of the most famous and local Romanian bakeries in the country. Brasov is a historic town with some epic medieval food, so our next stop had to be for the classic chimney cakes. Chimney cakes, or kürtőskalács, are a must try here in Brasov, Transylvania, they’re a popular Romanian food that’s sweet and flavourful, crispy and soft with every bite!
To finish off our epic medieval food tour in Brasov, Transylvania, we went to a traditional restaurant to try some of the best food in Transylvania. Stews are a popular food in Romania, and in Transylvania they are a must, paired with mamaliga, a Romanian polenta. Coupled with meaty pies and gogoși sweet donuts covered in cream and berries, this was the best way to end any Romanian food tour.
