I had a bag of Big Mac sauce packets and a steak that needed to get used before it went bad, so naturally I made Big Mac Focaccia. Used the viral Bon Appetit focaccia recipe as my base, folded thinly sliced onions and Big Mac sauce packets right into the dough, then topped it with more onions, more sauce, and pepperoncinis because I didn't have pickles and improvising is half the fun. Dimpled it, let it rest, baked it, then turned the whole thing into a Big Mac steak sandwich: sliced steak, pepperoncinis, mustard, lettuce, cheese, tomato. This might be the best thing I've made all year. Focaccia experiments are officially a series now. Starting with the viral Bon Appetit focaccia recipe as a base, fold thinly sliced onions and Big Mac sauce packets directly into the dough, then tops the focaccia with additional onions, more Big Mac sauce, and pepperoncini before dimpling the dough, letting it rest, and baking. Once baked, the focaccia becomes the bread for a Big Mac Steak Sandwich, layered with sliced steak, pepperoncini, mustard, lettuce, cheese, and tomato. The result is a copycat Big Mac-inspired sandwich built on homemade focaccia, combining a viral bread technique with a fast food flavor profile using ingredients already on hand.
