Chick-fil-A Finally Made Chicken & Waffles

The internet's been blowing up about Chick-fil-A's new Chicken & Waffles Sandwich, so I went out of my way to grab one, along with the new S'mores Milkshake. Sometimes the hype is real. This is one of those times.
First thing that hits you is the smell. Really syrupy, in a good way. This is maple-flavored waffles wrapped around a chicken filet, applewood smoked bacon, and honey butter spread, with a side of syrup. I tried it solo first, no extra syrup, and it works better than it has any right to. The bacon is great. The chicken is awesome. But the waffle is the part that surprised me most, crispy on the outside yet soft, with little bits of sugar baked in that you actually notice. That combination is what makes the whole thing.
Then I added the syrup to see if it changed anything. It hits with syrup. It hits without syrup. It hits every way you eat it.
My one note, and this is me being picky, is that I kept wishing it had cheese on it. Pepper jack specifically. I think that would've pushed it over the top, and since I can add that myself, I probably will next time. That's the only thing standing between this and a perfect score.
The S'mores Milkshake is worth talking about on its own. You get the marshmallow and graham cracker right away, and it's rich without being too much. I'll say it plainly: it's the best shake I've had at Chick-fil-A so far. Take that however you want, but I mean it.
So where does the sandwich land? As good as everyone's saying. If they'd put cheese on it, I'd be at a 10. As is, it's a 9.5 out of 10. I genuinely can't think of anything else that would make it better. If you can, tell me.
The S'mores Milkshake is a solid add and worth going out of your way for on its own.
