*Kafeneio 1912* is where we begin with one of the most traditional food experiences in Volos. Here, you order tsipouro, the local spirit, and plates of meze begin arriving in rounds alongside each drink. Every new plate brings something different to the table, creating a relaxed and social way of eating that is deeply connected to the city. Incredible hospitality, simple local food, and a tradition that feels completely authentic make this one of the highlights of our visit.
*Πι Και Φι Βόλος* is our next stop for something quick and familiar: a freshly made gyro pita. Served piping hot with juicy meat and all the classic fillings, it is a simple but very satisfying stop before we continue exploring the city.
*Kypselē* is where we head for dessert. We try several local sweets, but the real surprise is the homemade sheep’s milk ice cream. Rich, smooth, and incredibly creamy, it has a distinctive flavour and becomes one of the most memorable desserts of the trip.
*Matoula Traditional Pies* starts our next morning with freshly baked Greek pies. Cut into smaller portions, they are perfect for trying a few different flavours, all made fresh and baked on the spot. Crisp pastry, warm fillings, and a very traditional preparation make this a great local breakfast stop.
*Γύρισμα αλά Παλαιά* is where we finish our Volos food tour with a serious meat feast. This local meat specialist serves everything from kontosouvli and fried liver to roast lamb with potatoes, pork shank, and plenty of other traditional Greek grilled and roasted dishes. Generous portions, rich flavours, and a busy local atmosphere make it the perfect final meal in Volos.
