Return to Rwanda

Revisiting the first proper video on this channel, shot almost 10 years ago. I traveled to Rwanda for a standup comedy festival in 2017, initially not even planning to document the experience and it was a trip that ended up changing my life. I was amazed how familiar everything was to my life as a comedian in New York, and the lifestyle in the capital city, Kigali, was generally familiar to my life back home as well.
I made a lot of assumptions about what it would be like AND what the comedians over there would be comfortable talking about. This time around, knowing a bit more about it all, I was able to ask some of the questions that I hadn't the first time around. Babu Joe, the comedian who I initially met when I reached out to the Rwanda comedians nearly a decade ago, hung out with us again for what was effectively a reunion. It was great to see him and some of my other old pals. It was special to hang and see what everyone was up to. Make sure to check out the original video as well - youtu.be/q-AkULtJmIs .
