French Toast Was Never French ?

Long before it had a name, ancient Romans soaked stale bread in eggs and milk to avoid wasting food, and the idea spread across Europe for centuries.
The name “French toast” came much later as a way to make the dish sound more refined, even though France didn’t actually create it. In reality, it’s less of a French invention and more of a simple survival recipe that got rebranded over time.
