Detroit-style pizza is having a serious moment right now and @marksandspencerfood have officially entered the chat ? Known for its thick airy focaccia-style base, crispy caramelised cheese edges and rectangular shape, Detroit pizza originally came out of Michigan in the 1940s and has slowly become one of the biggest pizza trends in the world. M&S have launched their own take on the style with a 24-hour fermented dough, crispy cheese crust and some seriously loaded toppings. I tried: ? The Hot Pepp’ Pie – spicy pepperoni, jalapeños, chilli pearls and hot honey ? The Cool Marg’ Pie – mascarpone, basil and lemon on that signature deep-pan base These are definitely more substantial than your average supermarket pizza. The dough is soft and airy inside with that crispy cheesy edge that makes Detroit pizza so addictive. At £7.50 they sit firmly in that premium supermarket category, but it’s great seeing more regional pizza styles becoming accessible over here in the UK. First cook ( abeit a safe one on my @gozney Arc ) Have you tried Detroit-style pizza before? ??#pizza #marksandspencer
