Are New Zealand pies really better than Australia's?!

I only tried two while I was in Kaikōura in the South Island of New Zealand, but one of them ended up being one of the best pies I've ever had! Everything from the pastry, to the slow-cooked beef, to the quality cheese inside was spectacular. The other one was just ok. If Kiwis knows how to do one thing better, it's definitely how to use melted cheese in their pies. This is a concept that most local Aussie bakeries haven't really grasped consistently yet.
