James makes a Greek Burger on the Blackstone Griddle

  • James is putting a Greek twist on burger night with crispy chilli halloumi, quality olive oil and perfectly seasoned smash burgers. The result is packed with bold flavours and proves that simple ingredients done well can make something seriously special.

    Ingredients
    400 g minced beef (divided into 4 portions)
    2 burger buns
    200 g halloumi cheese, sliced
    2 tbsp olive oil (30 ml)
    2 tsp paprika
    1 tsp garlic powder
    1 tsp onion powder
    Salt to taste
    Directions
    1. Preheat a griddle or frying pan to medium-high heat and add a drizzle of olive oil.
    2. Divide the minced beef into 4 equal portions, place onto the griddle, and smash into patties.
    3. Season the patties with salt and sprinkle over paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder.
    4. Cook the patties until browned and crisp on the edges, then flip and cook the other side.
    5. Brush the halloumi slices with olive oil and place them onto the griddle, cooking until golden and crispy on the outside while still soft inside, then flip to cook the other side.
    6. Lightly toast the burger buns on the griddle, allowing them to soak up some of the rendered juices.
    7. Assemble the burgers by placing a beef patty on the bottom bun and topping with slices of grilled halloumi.
    8. Finish with the top bun and serve immediately while hot.
