Philly Cheesesteak Sliders
Ingredients:
• 1 lb shaved steak
• 1 pack Hawaiian rolls (12 count)
• 1 onion (small – medium), chopped
• 1 green bell pepper, chopped
• 2-3 tsp onion powder
• 2-3 tsp garlic powder
• Salt and Pepper to taste
• 12 White American cheese slices (or provolone), divided
• 2-3 tbsp oil or butter for pan
• 2-3 tbsp melted butter for brushing top of sliders (optional)
Instructions:
1. Preheat oven to 350.
2. In a skillet over medium heat add 1-2 tbsp oil or butter, let it warm, then add shaved steak. Let it brown then add seasonings. When steak has cooked through remove from pan and add to bowl.
3. Add oil or butter to pan, let warm, then add chopped onions and peppers. Let them cook down then add salt and pepper.
4. While onions and peppers cook down, cut Hawaiian rolls in half horizontally so top separates from bottom. Place bottom half of rolls in baking dish. Add 6 slices of cheese to cover rolls. Set aside.
5. When peppers and onions have cooked down so onions are translucent, add steak back to pan and mix with vegetables. Taste mixture, add seasonings as needed. Add mixture on top of cheese. Place remaining cheese slices on top, then place top half of rolls. Place sliders in the oven for 15 minutes (10 minutes covered, then 5 minutes uncovered)
6. Immediately out the oven brush top of sliders with melted butter then let cool for 10 – 15 minutes. Slice sliders to make 12 and serve with chips.
