Unpretentious luxury. Something I am quite fond of...and clearly so is the team at Bread & Spread. You shouldn't have to wear a suit or pay an exorbitant amount of money to be able to try foods that have been gatekept for years. John Copolla and I are kindred spirits here. After training at Culinary Institute of America, John decided to open up a food truck in Dumbo. Taking all the high class learnings from CIA, he decided to bless the people with a glimpse of how fine dining establishments treat food. Sourcing, science and presentation are very obvious themes across what might look like just a sandwich. From the disco fries to the custom made porchetta everything John & team serve tastes like it was made with extra care. And I think all of this is reflected well with their new late night menu. This is a perfect thing to do if you want to switch it up from your regular upscale dinner. I mean, where else are you getting black caviar on a perfectly crisp grilled cheese while sitting at a metal table? The space is meant to feel communal and welcoming and on the late night you can enjoy some delicious boujiee options without the fear of being judged. Go check em out and let us know what you think. And if you don't have anyone to go with we just started adding more users to @onthegrid.app where you can save places like this and meet other people who want to check it out too.
